For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, and that proved right during the Pakistan-Sri Lanka game in Asia Cup T20 2025 in Abu Dhabi. Wanindu Hasaranga had his moment of revenge when he mocked Abrar Ahmed’s celebration after being mimicked by the latter earlier in the match.

‌Pakistan did a great job of restricting Sri Lanka to 133/8 after opting to bowl in a crucial Asia Cup T20 2025 game in Abu Dhabi. Shaheen Afridi shone with the ball with a spell of 3/28 in four overs, while Haris Rauf and Hussain Talat chipped in with two wickets. Meanwhile, Kamindu Mendis stood tall, among all the ruins, with a fighting half-century to take his side to a respectable total.

Pakistan started the chase promisingly with openers Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan taking the side to 43/0 within the first five overs. But spinner Maheesh Theekshana sent back both openers in his second over, in the space of a ball, to turn the game on its head.

Wanindu Hasaranga played a crucial part in the second wicket as he flew towards his right to complete a single-handed stunner at mid-off to dismiss Fakhar. He immediately got up and mimicked Abrar Ahmed’s celebration, shaking his head, gesturing towards the batter to walk back to the pavilion.

Hasaranga was waiting for the moment after Abrar had cleaned him up earlier in the innings to mock his celebration. The Sri Lankan leg-spinner went a step ahead in the next over when he bamboozled Saim Ayub with a beauty.

After being introduced in the first over after the powerplay, Hasaranga went past Ayub’s defence with a googly to disturb the furniture in the fourth ball of his first over. He was quick to turn towards the Pakistan dressing room and pull out the shaking head celebration again.

Twitter was in splits as Abrar could do nothing but respond with a sheepish smile amid the Hasaranga carnage.
