Fast Bowlers often shake batters with short-pitched stuff, and Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera did the same to Fakhar Zaman. The Pakistan opener was hit on his helmet by a nasty delivery from Chameera during the Asia Cup T20 2025 match in Abu Dhabi before the physio rushed in to check on him.

‌Pakistan put on a clinical display with the ball in a crucial Asia Cup T20 2025 game against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi. The Men in Green restricted the Lankans to 133/8 after opting to bowl at the Zayed Cricket Stadium.

Left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi picked up two wickets in his first two overs before ending with figures of 3/28 in four overs, while Haris Rauf and Hussain Talat picked two wickets each. Meanwhile, Kamindu Mendis’ fighting half-century meant the island nation had something to bowl at in the second innings.

Nuwan Thushara started well for Sri Lanka, conceding just four runs in the first over, with Dushmantha Chameera steaming in to bowl his first. The pacer started with a jaffa to beat opener Fakhar Zaman’s outside edge after pitching on a good length outside off stump.

Just before the southpaw recovered, the pacer shook him with a fiery short-pitched delivery, off the third, that went on to hit his helmet. The 146 kmph ball caught Fakhar off guard as he was late to bring his bat for the pull shot.

The physio rushed in even as the Sri Lanka players appealed for a catch, as the ball ballooned to the fielder at extra cover, before going for the review. Fakhar looked visibly shaken as he went through the concussion protocols with the Sri Lankan players checking in on his wellness.

Twitter was on the edge before cooling down as the batter slowly, but steadily, recovered to take his guard again. Fakhar continued his innings as replays showed there was no glove or bat before the ball hit his helmet.

 Oh no!

Not easy!

Well bowled!

haha!

Nice!

yeah!

True!

On fire!
