Patna Pirates ended Dabang Delhi’s six-match winning streak with a 33-30 win in PKL 12, led by Ankit Kumar’s 12 points. Coach Anup Kumar expressed joy at the rare victory, recalled a similar streak from 2015, and admitted his anger stemmed from Delhi’s substitution rule misuse. He also reflected on Ayan Lohchab’s struggles with confidence.

Being the ninth-placed team in the PKL 12 standings, Patna Pirates desperately needed a turnaround, and they found it with a thrilling 33-30 win over Dabang Delhi in Jaipur. The victory was particularly significant as it ended Delhi’s six-match unbeaten streak. The Pirates’ hero of the night was Ankit Kumar, who came off the bench and produced a match-winning 12-point performance that completely shifted the contest in Patna’s favour.

Dabang Delhi coach Joginder Narwal admitted that his team had control for most of the match but let it slip in the closing stages. He credited Ankit’s individual brilliance for snatching away what seemed like a certain Delhi win. On the other hand, Patna coach Anup Kumar expressed immense relief after breaking a series of defeats, calling the win a special one.

He also recalled how Delhi’s streak ended at seven matches, just like his U Mumba team in 2015, adding an extra layer of satisfaction. Anup, however, made headlines for his heated reaction late in the game. He later explained that his frustration stemmed from Delhi’s improper use of substitution rules, which could have given them an unfair edge. He also addressed Ayan Lohchab’s dip in form, praising his talent but stressing the need for mental strength under pressure.
