Asia Cup 2025 | Match referee Richie Richardson penalises Rauf and Surya while Farhan let go with a warning

Haris Rauf and Suryakumar Yadav have been fined 30% of their match fee for their actions during the Super Fours game on September 21 after a disciplinary hearing was held by match referee Richie Richardson. While the two players were given penalties, Sahibzada Farhan was let go with a warning.

Haris Rauf and Suryakumar Yadav were fined 30% of their match fee for breaching the ICC code of conduct during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours match on September 21.
Although the game between the two was one-sided, favoring the Men in Blue, there was still a lot of drama and confrontation between the players, which was not appreciated by the two cricketing boards. While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lodged a complaint against the Indian skipper for making comments about the military skirmishes between the two nations, the BCCI also made a complaint to the ICC against Sahibzada Farhan’s gun celebration and Haris Rauf’s insensitive gestures towards the Indian fans.
While both Surya and Rauf were given penalties for their actions by match referee Richie Richardson, Farhan was let go with a warning after the disciplinary hearing was held. It was also confirmed that the Indian captain had made a ‘not guilty’ plea, which was rejected by Richardson, and the Indian board has appealed against the verdict.
While the controversies between the two nations continue to spread, the two teams will be facing each other in the Asia Cup final, which will be held on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium. This will also be the first time the two teams will face each other in the finals of the tournament.
