T20I Tri-Series 2025 | New Zealand name Devon Conway as Finn Allen’s replacement for Zimbabwe Tri-Series

New Zealand batter Devon Conway has been named as a replacement for the injured Finn Allen for the upcoming T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe. The tournament kicks off on Monday with host Zimbabwe facing South Africa in the first game, while the Kiwis will meet the Proteas on July 16.
Conway will be in contention to play his first T20I game in more than a year after last featuring against Papua New Guinea in the T20 World Cup in June 2024. But the southpaw has been a regular in the T20 franchise leagues with his last stint coming with the Texas Super Kings in MLC, where he scored 135 runs from four matches.
"We're really gutted for Finn," New Zealand head coach Rob Walter said. "I was looking forward to working with him and to see him continue his form from the MLC but unfortunately injuries happen. We're lucky to be able to call on someone of Devon's quality to replace Finn."
The tri-series starts on Monday with host Zimbabwe playing against neighbours South Africa in the first game at the Harare Sports Club. The Kiwis will play their opening match against the Proteas at the same venue on July 16. With as many as four players set to feature in the final of the MLC 2025 on Sunday, the Black Caps have named Mitch Hay, Jimmy Neesham, and Tim Robinson as cover.
Spin bowling all-rounder Michael Bracewell will turn up for MI New York, while batter Mark Chapman, along with all-rounders Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra, will play for Washington Freedom in the summit clash of MLC this season.
"We knew there'd be a possibility that a handful of players could be involved in the MLC final, so we're bringing in Mitch, Jimmy, and Tim as possible replacements", Walter said.
