IND vs PAK | Twitter ridicules as steadfast Suryakumar Yadav earns ire with unnecessary appeal

India-Pakistan encounters are not just cricket matches, and Suryakumar Yadav showed that again during the Asia Cup Final. The Indian captain forced the umpire to go up for obstructing the field after his throw hit counterpart Salman Ali Agha, who was running a double to the wicketkeeper’s end.

‌After a good opening stand between Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan lost their way against India in the Asia Cup T20 2025 final in Dubai. The openers added 84 runs in 58 balls, but they lost four wickets in the next five overs as the score read 128/4 after 15 overs.

Captain Salman Ali Agha and Hussain Talat were at the crease and had their task cut out to take Pakistan to a competitive total. With Axar Patel coming in to bowl his final over, Salman stepped out to drive the flighted delivery past extra cover. Suryakumar was slow in his pick-up as the pair attempted a second run.

With Salman rushing to make his ground at the keeper’s end, the throw hit him as Suryaumar appealed for obstructing the field. Though the umpire was hesitant, a steadfast Surya forced him into referring it to the third umpire.

There was no intention from Salman to block him as he sprinted to safety, and replays exactly showed that. Twitter was not amused as the Indian skipper persistently appealed and was on the face of the umpire to get it to the third umpire.

Not needed there man!

Sad!

Bad appeal!

Agreed!

That was not a good appeal!

Shouldn't have gone for it!

Haa!

Bad one!
