IND vs PAK | Twitter stunned as Afridi’s onslaught against Pandya takes Pakistan to respectable total

The contributions of tailenders are often discounted, but Shaheen Afridi made the cricketing world take notice during his cameo against India during their Asia Cup campaign. The pacer hit a stunning four sixes, including two in Hardik Pandya’s final over, to take them to a respectable total.

‌Pakistan had a bad start after opting to bat against arch-rivals India in their Asia Cup T20 2025 campaign in Dubai. They lost two wickets in the first two overs, with Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah picking up a wicket each as the score read 6/2.

However, Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan rebuilt the Pakistan innings as they reached 42/2 at the end of the powerplay. But Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav had the Men in Green on the mat, picking up four wickets in five overs as the team looked for someone to take them past the 100-run mark.

Shaheen Shah Afridi walked into the middle in the 17th over, after the fall of top-scorer Farhan for a 44-ball 40, with the score still a sorry-looking 83/7. But the left-handed batter put his long handle to good use as he smashed Kuldeep for a six before going big against Varun with another stunning hit.

The pacer was not done yet, saving his best for the last as he cleared his front foot to launch Hardik Pandya over long on in the second ball of the last over. Off the very next ball, he repeated the feat, punishing the all-rounder’s full toss and sending it miles back into the stands.

His unbeaten cameo of 33 off 16 balls, which included four sixes, took Pakistan to a respectable 127/9. Twitter was impressed with the willow-wielding skills of Afridi, who gave his best when the chips were down.
