India beat Pakistan by seven wickets in the Asia Cup T20 2025 contest at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Kuldeep Yadav shone with the ball to restrict Pakistan to a modest total before Suryakumar Yadav anchored the Indian chase with an unbeaten knock to complete a dominant win.
India continued their winning run in the Asia Cup T20 2025 with a comfortable seven-wicket win against Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday. Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav was the star with the ball, picking up a three-wicket haul to derail the Pakistan innings, while captain Suryakumar Yadav helmed the chase with an unbeaten knock of 47.
Pakistan had a torrid start after opting to bat first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium with opener Saim Ayub departing for a first-ball duck. The left-handed batter was dismissed by Hardik Pandya after he spooned a catch straight to Jasprit Bumrah at backward point. Bumrah complemented his Mumbai Indians skipper as the duo reversed roles this time to dismiss Mohammad Haris as Pakistan slipped to 6/2. Fakhar Zaman tried to inject some momentum with two boundaries off Pandya, while fellow opener Sahibzada Farhan took on Bumrah with two sixes as the Men in Green reached 42/2 at the end of the powerplay. Just as in the UAE game, the introduction of spin did the trick as Pakistan lost their way with Axar Patel picking two wickets in two overs. Kuldeep Yadav also joined the party with consecutive wickets in his second over as Pakistan were placed at a precarious 65/6 with seven overs still to play. Though Farhan top-scored with a 44-ball 40, including three sixes and a four, it was Shaheen Shah Afridi’s unbeaten cameo that took his side to a respectable 127/9 in their allotted 20 overs. The left-arm pacer struck four sixes, including two in Pandya’s final over, during his innings off 33 from 16 balls. Kuldeep was the pick among the Indian bowlers yet again with an impressive spell of 3/18 in four overs, while Bumrah and Axar ended with two wickets each.
India stuck to their template yet again, starting with an ultra-aggressive approach as Abhishek Sharma smashed a four and six off Afridi in the first two balls of the chase. Though his opening partner Shubman Gill also hit two boundaries from spinner Saim Ayub, he perished in the same over after a rush of blood caught him short of the crease. But Abhishek was in no mood to relent as he treated Afridi with disdain, scoring a stunning six off a flick shot. He hit two more boundaries before becoming Ayub’s second dismissal to return after an entertaining cameo of 31 off just 13 balls. But, Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav ensured there was no further damage for India, ending the powerplay at 61/2. The pair added 56 runs for the third wicket to put India in the driver’s seat before Tilak departed for a run-a-ball 31. With 31 required off 46 balls, Suryakumar played a captain’s knock to carry the side home to a comfortable win. He remained unbeaten on 47 off 37 balls with five fours and hit the winning runs with a stylish six. India went past the Pakistan target to finish at 131/3 with 25 balls to spare. Ayub was the only Pakistani bowler to feature in the wickets column, picking up 3/35 in four overs.
