‌England went 2-1 ahead in the five-match series with a thrilling 22-run win over India at Lord’s on Monday. Though Ravindra Jadeja took India close with his unbeaten half-century, England picked up the remaining six wickets to bowl out India for 170 on the final day. Pacer Jofra Archer picked up 3/55 while Ben Stokes ended with figures of 3/48.

Starting the day at 58/4, the Indian pursuit hit rough waters with vice-captain Rishabh Pant castled by Jofra Archer in just the third over of the day. Three overs later, India lost overnight batter KL Rahul (39), who was trapped in front of the wicket by England skipper Ben Stokes. With Washington Sundar also walking back in the next over, India were in dire straits at 82/7 with a further 111 runs needed for a win. Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy kept alive the faint hopes with a fighting 30-run partnership off 91 balls for the eighth wicket. But Nitish’s wicket brought the game back in England’s favour. Jadeja continued to fight against all odds with his gritty unbeaten knock of 61 runs from 181 balls, adding valuable partnerships with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. But in the end, India fell short by 22 runs.
