Match Report

Rangpur Riders clinched their third win of the GSL 2025 season with a clinical five-wicket victory over Dubai Capitals at Providence Stadium in Guyana. Pacer Khaled Ahmed led a clinical bowling effort from Rangpur with a spell of 3/18 in four overs, while all-rounder Kyle Mayers scored a quickfire fifty as Rangpur outplayed Dubai comprehensively in all departments.

Dubai Capitals started brightly, after electing to bat first, courtesy of a brisk opening from Sediqullah Atal, who smashed five fours and two sixes in his 24-ball 37. But, apart from him and Shakib Al Hasan, the other batters came a cropper as DC struggled to 143/8 in their allotted 20 overs. The Bangladesh all-rounder hit three fours and two sixes to top-score for his side with 41 from 33 balls, while Tabraiz Shamsi supported Khaled’s fiery spell, picking up 2/24 in four overs.

Rangpur’s reply got off fluently with Ibrahim Zadran and Soumya Sarkar adding 35 inside four overs. Despite a few hiccups in the middle in the form of quick wickets, Kyle Mayers took command with a 52 off 33. The southpaw smashed six fours and two sixes during his knock, but his dismissal briefly gave Dubai hope. But Iftikhar Ahmed’s calm head ensured Rangpur crossed the line with eight balls to spare. He hit two fours and a six during his unbeaten cameo of 23 from 13 balls as Rangpur reached 147/5 to go top of the table. Shakib picked up 2/24 in four overs while Qais Ahmad and Kaleem Sana picked up a wicket each but could not help Dubai defend a below-par score.

Player of the Match

Khaled Ahmed was adjudged the Player of the Match for his economical and incisive spell of 3/18 that restricted Dubai Capitals to a sub-150 score.
