Central Delhi Kings strengthened their position at the second spot in the tournament standings, with a massive 104-run win over Purani Delhi 6 in the 35th game of the ongoing DPL 2025. Yash Dhull’s brilliant half-century and Aryan Rana’s blistering 42-run knock played a central role in this win.
Purani Delhi 6 won the toss and asked the Central Delhi Kings to bat first. CDK faced an early loss, losing Kaushal Suman (5) cheaply at the team score of just 25 runs in 2.4 overs. But it was followed by an amazing 57-run partnership for the second wicket between Yash Dhull and Yugal Saini as the latter smashed some important boundaries for his side, scoring 28 runs off 20 balls, with three fours and a six. His knock came to an end when he was caught by Samarth Seth off Rajneesh Dadar’s bowling in the eighth over of the innings, scoring an amazing half-century (53 runs off 37 balls). Following his departure, Dhull kept hitting boundaries, neutralising the loss of wicket for his side, and added another crucial 38-run partnership for the third wicket with skipper Jontu Sidhu. It was Sidhu’s blistering approach that accelerated the scoring rate for the Kings. He smashed 28 runs off just 16 balls, with three sixes. Later in the innings, Aditya Bhandari’s 17 runs off 11 balls were followed by the sensational and swashbuckling knock of 42 runs off just 14 balls, with three fours and four sixes played by Aryan Rana. These knocks helped the Kings post 197/5 in the allotted 18 overs.
Furthermore, the rain interruption reduced the game to 15 overs, and Purani Delhi were given the revised target of 174 runs in the allotted 15 overs. However, PD6’s batting attack collapsed miserably, getting bowled out at the score of just 69 runs in 11.1 overs. Pranav Pant (24) and skipper Vansh Bedi (14) were the only batters to touch the double-digit mark as an individual score. PD6 kept losing wickets in clusters and at regular intervals as half of their team was back in the pavilion at the score of 50 runs in 6.4 overs. After that, they lost the next five wickets within the span of just 19 runs, getting bundled out at just 69 runs. For the Kings, Arun Pundir, Simarjeet Singh and Jonty Sidhu scalped two wickets each, alongside a wicket each picked by Money Grewal, Tejas Baroka, Jasvir Sehrawat, and Gavnish Khurana.
Star Kings’ opener Yash Dhull won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his brilliant match-winning knock of 53 runs off 37 runs, hitting five fours and two sixes. His knock played a pivotal role in the Kings’ 104-run win over PD6.
