The 13th game of the Caribbean Premier League will see St Lucia Kings meet Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium on August 26. The defending champions of CPL will be up against the Global Super League title holders in this upcoming venture on Wednesday.

‌There have already been some thrilling games that have taken place in the 13th season of the Caribbean Premier League, and there are still some iconic fixtures to watch out for in the tournament. The upcoming fixture is also set to be an exciting battle where the defending champions, St Lucia Kings, will be battling it out against the Global Super League winners, Guyana Amazon Warriors, on Wednesday. The last time the two teams met each other was in the 2024 CPL final, where the St Lucia franchise had gotten the better of the 2023 champions at the Providence stadium.

Though the Kings were victorious under the leadership of Faf du Plessis last season, where they ruined the Warriors' hopes of winning back-to-back titles, they haven’t had the best of starts under the leadership of their new skipper in Namibian all rounder David Wiese.  Though they managed a thrilling three-run win in their second game against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, their loss to Trinbago Knight Riders, and a rained-out game against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons have put them in a tricky situation.

The Warriors, on the other hand, overcame their disappointing final loss last season by winning the Global Super League this year and have continued their great run with two consecutive wins in the tournament by beating the Patriots in their first game by five wickets and thrashing the Falcons by 83 runs in their second game. The last game also saw their skipper, Imran Tahir, become the second-oldest player to take a five-wicket haul in T20 cricket. They will be high on confidence after these performances and will look to avenge their CPL final loss last season.

Form Guide

The defending champions' recent form has suffered due to their abysmal start to their title defense, with two of their games being called off due to rain. These unfortunate outcomes have also resulted in them struggling at the fifth spot on the points table.

The Warriors on the other hand, have been in incredible form, having gone unbeaten in their last five games in the T20 format.

Pitch and Weather

Though the surface at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium is slightly is a bit on the drier side, which offers the spinners a bit of grip, batting tends to get easier on this wicket in the second innings. Although the last game was won by the team batting first, the team fielding first has been victorious on most occasions in the 85 matches played at the venue.

The expected temperature in St Lucia is 28 degrees Celsius. The conditions might be slightly cloudy, but the chances of rain are very low.

Team News

The two teams are expected to go unchanged in the upcoming game since the Kings did not get the chance to test their lineup due to their last game getting called off, and the Warriors have been in terrific form in the last two games they have played.
