Central Delhi Kings defeated the Outer Delhi Warriors in the 20th game of the ongoing Delhi Premier League 2025, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The brilliant knocks played by Siddharth Joon (32) and Aditya Bhandari (41) were followed by the joint bowling efforts to help CDK beat ODW.
After opting to bowl first, Outer Delhi Warriors successfully launched the initial attack on the Central Delhi Kings, dismissing their three batters at the team score of 46 runs in 6.2 overs. However, the top-order collapse was countered a bit by wicketkeeper-batter Siddharth Joon. He smashed some crucial boundaries to take his team to a respectable score at the end of the powerplay. Joon’s knock ended when Shivam Sharma got the former caught by Shresth Yadav on the second ball of the seventh over. Then came a much-needed 39-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Aditya Bhandari and skipper Jonty Sidhu before the latter fell prey to Shivam Sharma’s brilliant bowling in the 13th over. Sidhu went back to the pavilion after scoring 29 runs off 22 balls, with two fours and a six. Following Sidhu, Bhandari continued hitting some important and impactful boundaries to take his score to 41 runs off just 27 balls, with one four and three sixes. Simarjeet Singh’s late burst of 19 runs off just eight balls helped the Kings post a decent total of 161/8. Outer Delhi Warriors’ skipper Siddhant Sharma led the bowling attack from the front with his exemplary performance, picking three wickets for 33 runs in his quota of four overs. He was accompanied by Shivam Sharma, who bagged the big prized wickets of Siddharth Joon and Jonty Sidhu.
While chasing the target, the Warriors found themselves in big trouble when their top order was completely destroyed by the Kings’ bowling trio of Simarjeet Singh, Pranshu Vijayran, and Money Grewal. The Warriors lost their five wickets at the score of just 43 runs in 5.4 overs. This collapse included the only effort from the opener, Priyansh Arya, who scored 21 runs off 16 balls, hitting two fours and a six, but he also failed to stay for a long time in the middle. The middle-order duo of Keshav Dabas and Harsh Tyagi took charge to stabilize their side after the collapse of the top and middle order. Dabas and Tyagi stitched a decisive partnership of 64 runs for the sixth wicket. Both batters displayed a steady and sensible approach throughout the entire partnership, with Tyagi getting out after scoring 31 runs off 29 balls, with one four and two sixes. However, Dabas stayed to stitch some crucial partnerships with the lower-order batters. But his knock also came to end when Pranshu Vijayran trapped him in the 18th over. Dabas scored 64 runs off 45 balls, with six fours and two sixes. But his knock went in vain as the Warriors fell 13 runs of short, getting restricted to the score of 149/8 in the entire 20 overs. The bowling trio of Singh, Grewal, and Vijayran shone for the Kings as they scalped two wickets each, alongside a wicket each picked by Arun Pundir and Tejas Baroka.
ODW’s star bowling all-rounder Simarjeet Singh won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his brilliant all-round performance. He scored 19 runs off just eight balls with the bat in the innings, followed by picking two wickets in his four overs.
