When the UP Yoddhas unveiled their new jersey for Pro Kabaddi League season 12 on August 21, 2025, in Lucknow, the team also showcased their plans for the upcoming season. Head coach Jasveer Singh highlighted that the squad is a careful mix of experienced players and emerging talent, aimed at giving young athletes the freedom to play confidently while seniors provide guidance and stability.
Newly-appointed captain Sumit Sangwan expressed his honour at leading the team, promising to repay the faith shown in him with strong performances. He, along with vice-captain Ashu Singh, has been with the franchise since season 7, providing continuity in leadership. The team has retained 13 players from last season and added six promising players from Yuva Yoddhas, their developmental side at the UP Yoddhas Academy.
After finishing third in the previous season, UP Yoddhas are focused on improving their campaign in PKL 12. Their season opener is set against Telugu Titans in Visakhapatnam on August 30. With a balanced squad and renewed leadership, the team aims to make a strong impact this season while keeping fans engaged and hopeful for memorable performances on the mat.
