ALPR vs AKS, Review । Sailors end league stage on winning note with six-wicket win over Ripples


Aries Kollam Sailors defeated the Alleppey Ripples by six wickets in the 29th game of the ongoing Kerala Cricket League 2025. Amal AG’s brilliant bowling performance (3/22), followed by Vishnu Vinod’s swashbuckling knock of 39 (14), helped the Sailors outclass the Ripples in their last league match.
Aries Kollam Sailors won the toss and asked the Alleppey Ripples to bat first. The Ripples had a quick opening start of 46 runs in just 4.5 overs by the opening pair of Akarsh AK and skipper Jalaj Saxena. This partnership was mainly led by Akarsh before it ended with the dismissal of Saxena at the individual score of just eight runs off eight balls, with one four. Saxena’s departure was followed by Akarsh AK’s dismissal within the next 15 runs. He scored 46 runs off 33 balls, with five fours and two sixes. However, Akash Pillai and Anuj Jotin stitched a crucial 47-run partnership for the third wicket, with both batters scoring 33 runs each off 27 and 22 balls, respectively. These contributions helped the Ripples post 137/9 in the allotted 20 overs. Amal AG bagged three wickets for 22 runs in his three overs, alongside Pavan Raj’s tight spell of two wickets for just 13 runs in three overs, including a maiden over. Apart from these two, Sachin Baby, Sharafuddeen, and Ajayaghosh N S scalped a wicket each.
While chasing the target, the Sailors had faced an early blow as they lost Bharath Soorya was dismissed off Jalaj Saxena at the team score of just 25 runs in 4.3 overs. Soorya could score just 10 runs off 16 balls, with two fours. Following his departure, the Sailors kept losing wickets at regular intervals, but the 29-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Vathsal Govind (12) and Rahul Sharma (26). Besides these two, Vishnu Vinod’s swashbuckling and fiery knock of 39 runs off just 14 balls, with one four and five sixes, following 25 (23), took AKS over the line, scoring 139/6 in 17 overs. Amal AG won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his brilliant bowling performance in favour of the Sailors. With this win, the Kollam Sailors ended up in the third spot in the tournament’s points table at the end of the league stage.
