Juventus are considering Barcelona vice-captain Ronald Araujo as a replacement for Gleison Bremer, who is being targeted by Liverpool and Manchester United. Araujo has played just one full La Liga match this season. Juve may need to offer around €50 million to secure him, while Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham also monitor his availability.
During the recent Serie A clash against Hellas Verona, Juventus struggled to maintain cohesion, prompting head coach Igor Tudor to experiment with risky substitutions, including fielding Jonathan David and Lois Openda. The gamble failed, and Juventus dropped two points, raising concerns over defensive stability. As a result, the club has intensified its search for a center-back, especially with Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer attracting interest from Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United.
Bremer, Juventus’ second-highest earner, could be sold to reduce the wage bill. Juventus have renewed interest in Barcelona vice-captain Ronald Araujo as a potential replacement. The Uruguay international has played just one full match in La Liga this season and was twice an unused substitute, indicating a reduced role under Barcelona coach Hansi Flick, who favors Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez. Araujo had previously resisted a Juventus loan move and signed a contract with Barcelona until 2031.
With Premier League clubs also monitoring Araujo, Juventus would need to offer at least €50 million (US$60 million) to secure his transfer. Barcelona originally signed him for €4.7 million (US$5.5 million) from CA Boston River, making any potential sale a significant profit. Araujo remains a more cost-effective alternative to Bremer, while Juventus continues to assess their defensive options amid a challenging season.
