Wrexham, backed by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, are targeting Leicester’s Conor Coady, who has 198 Premier League appearances and 10 England caps. The club is looking to bolster its defence before the Championship season starts on August 9. Coady, still under contract, is reportedly impressed by Wrexham’s rapid rise.
The Hollywood-backed club Wrexham, co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, is reportedly targeting a summer transfer for England international Conor Coady. With 198 Premier League appearances and 10 England caps to his name, Coady would bring top-flight experience and leadership to Wrexham’s backline as they prepare for life in the Championship.
The 31-year-old defender, who has played for Liverpool, Wolves, Everton, and most recently Leicester City, is expected to leave the Foxes this summer despite having 12 months left on his contract. A fee would be required to complete the transfer. According to reports from the Daily Mail, Coady is said to be impressed by Wrexham’s dramatic rise from the National League to the Championship. Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson, while not naming specific targets, acknowledged ongoing speculation and confirmed that the club is focused on assembling a competitive squad.
Coady isn’t the only name on Wrexham’s radar. Ipswich Town’s Nathan Broadhead and Sheffield United striker Kieffer Moore are also being linked with potential moves. With the Championship campaign kicking off on August 9 against Southampton, Wrexham are aiming to wrap up their transfer business quickly and solidify their squad for the challenges ahead.
