Raheem Sterling is likely to leave Chelsea this transfer window, with Napoli, Fulham, and Nottingham Forest vying for the 30-year-old winger. Chelsea reportedly want £20 million for him. Sterling, who scored 19 goals in two seasons for Chelsea and spent last season on loan at Arsenal, may prefer Forest for European football via the Conference League.
For the first time in his career, Raheem Sterling could be heading away from England’s traditional top clubs. Having spent his career at Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, and on loan at Arsenal, Sterling now finds himself at a crossroads. Chelsea, under new manager Enzo Maresca, appears ready to offload the 30-year-old winger for a reported fee of £20 million.
Sterling’s early rise at Liverpool led to a £49 million move to Manchester City in 2015, where he enjoyed a highly successful seven-year stint. In 2022, Chelsea signed him for around £47.8 million, but his impact has since declined. Despite scoring 19 goals in two seasons for Chelsea, a lacklustre loan spell at Arsenal last season has seen his market value dip.
Fulham was the first club linked with a move, followed by Serie A giants Napoli, who are keen to sign the former England international. However, a new contender has emerged, Nottingham Forest. Having secured European football via the Conference League, Forest may be an appealing option if Sterling chooses to stay in England. As the transfer window heats up, Sterling’s next destination remains uncertain, but interest from multiple clubs ensures he won’t be short of suitors.
