International Career

Yashasvi Bhupendra Kumar Jaiswal popularly known as Yashasvi Jaiswal is a rising superstar for the Indian Cricket team who is leading India's rich cricketing legacy into brighter days. He is a left-handed aggressive batsman and plays as an opener for India. He was born on December 21, 2001, in Suriyawan, Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh in a middle-class family. His sheer determination made him a proficient batter and brought wide recognition in domestic cricket. Soon his attacking gameplay grabbed selectors’ eyes and he got a national call. In his international career, he had already scored 1798 runs in 19 test matches, and 723 runs in 23 T20Is but he had not debuted at ODIs yet. Hopefully, he will be in the One Day International squad very soon. Below here we mention some key moments from his international career:

  • July 12, 2023:He debuted in international cricket on July 12, 2023, in test cricket against the West Indies in India's tour of West Indies at Roseau. He made a magnificent maiden century and scored 171 runs from 387 balls. His tremendous batting helped the Indian team to cross the 400 mark in India's first innings. Finally, India won by an innings and Yashasvi Jaiswal became the player of the match on his dream debut.
  • August 8, 2023:Jaiswal debuted in a T20 international against the same tour of West Indies against West Indies. But he could not do so much with his batting as he scored only 1 run from 2 balls. So his T20I debut was not so impressive.
  • October 3, 2023:He made another century in the Asian Games Men’s Cricket Competition with a score of 100 from just 49 balls. He got an opportunity to be part of a contribution towards winning a gold medal in the Asian Games 2023.
  • 2024 T20 World Cup:He was a member of the 2024 T20 World Cup team but did not have any opportunity to play in the tournament. But he had closely watched and shared the dressing room with his other players.

Indian Premier League

Jaiswal is a phenomenal hard-hitting left-handed batsman who has a strong reputation for his batting in the IPL. Rajasthan Royals had shown belief in him in the 2020 IPL. He is standing out and proving the franchise’s decision right. His mighty season was the 2023 IPL season as he scored more than 600 runs with a century and the fastest fifty in the IPL. Over time, he is proving his batting skills and worth in the game with Rajasthan’s Jersey.

Records and Achievement

As a young star, Jaiswal has a long journey ahead in his career. However, he had made few notable records in his short duration time frame. His bat is breaking the number charts every day and creating history for Indian cricket. Hopefully, he will be making a huge number of records and getting a lot of awards due to his consistent batting performances.

Awards:

Jaiswal came in a transition phase of the Indian team where the top-order seniors were packing their bags to take leave from international cricket. Despite this, he made his name so prominent in International cricket in this short span and earned some awards. These are some of them listed below:

Recently Jaiswal’s dismissal by a caught behind appeal became controversial as it questioned the Decision Review System on the final day of the fourth test of India vs Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in 2024. The on-field umpire gave not out but countering the on-field umpire, Australian Captain Pat Cummins took DRS. In review, the real-time ‘Snickometer’ showed no spike of edges but from the visual aspect (deflection) of 2D, the third umpire overruled the on-field umpire’s decisions and gave out which was a topic of debate that spread over social media.
