IND vs PAK | Twitter in awe as Sanju Samson channels inner MS Dhoni to trigger Shaheen Afridi’s dismissal

MS Dhoni’s success rate with DRS has led the cricketing world to rename the technology after him, and Sanju Samson walked that path during the Asia Cup final. The Indian wicketkeeper was quick to persuade captain Suryakumar Yadav, as a successful review saw Shaheen Afridi walking back.

‌Pakistan did Pakistan things as they imploded after an excellent start against India in the final of the Asia Cup T20 2025. After the openers added 84 runs inside 10 overs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the middle order crumbled as the Men in Green slid to 133/6 within the next seven overs.

The spin trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel all picked up two wickets each as Pakistan went on freefall mode. Kuldeep dismissed captain Salman Agha off the first ball of his final over, and Shaheen Afridi fortunately gloved the next ball to overturn a leg-before dismissal.

But his luck did not last long as he was caught in front by the left-arm wrist spinner in the fourth ball of the same over. The left-arm pacer tried to walk across the wicket and slog sweep a wrong one that pitched on a good length around off stump, but missed it completely.

The umpire did not raise his finger as the ball appeared to glide down the leg stump, but wicketkeeper Sanju Samson was confident as he immediately prompted captain Suryakumar Yadav to go up. Though Kuldeep continued to request for a review, Surya once again had a chat with Sanju before going up.

Replays showed the ball crashing into the leg stump as the players celebrated another dismissal. Twitter was in awe as Sanju’s call was vindicated as he channelled his inner MS Dhoni to pull off an accurate review.
