Zimbabwean legend Sean Williams has been released from the squad for the T20 World Cup qualifiers in Africa due to personal reasons. The 39-year-old all-rounder will be replaced by 25-year-old wicket-keeper batter Clive Madande ahead of the second game against Botswana.

Zimbabwean senior player Sean Williams has been released from the squad for the T20 World Cup qualifiers in Africa due to personal reasons. The management has named wicket-keeper batter Clive Madande as his replacement.
The qualifiers for the T20 World Cup in Africa are currently being hosted by the Chevrons, and they have already made a winning start to their campaign. The hosts played their first game against Uganda and beat them by five wickets. Though this was a good start to their campaign, the absence of Williams still caused a lot of concerns since he is also one of the key players within the squad, and it was a big blow to the team when it was announced that he will no longer be playing in the tournament.
The 39-year-old all-rounder has represented the team in 85 games in the format and is the second-highest run-getter with 1805 runs at an average of 23.75, and is among the top 10 highest wicket takers with 55 scalps to his name. These numbers are a huge example of how him missing the qualifiers would make a difference, and will also raise questions on his availability in the upcoming T20 World Cup next season.
Speaking of the legendary Chevrons players replacement Madande has represented Zimbabwe in 39 games and has scored 463 runs at an average of 17.80 and has a strike rate of 110.50. This will be massive shoes to fill for the 25-year-old player who is still finding his place in the squad.
