SportsCafe Desk

There are moments in the game where batters manage to start their innings well but throw it all away in the end. The batter who joined this list of players is Sanju Samson who was looking in fine touch against Sri Lanka threw his wicket away with a needless shot in the 16th over.

Samson throws his wicket away after great start

‌The Indian team ended their innings on a big score of 202/5 in the last Super Four game against Sri Lanka. Almost all the Indian batters were timing the ball which include Sanju Samson, who has been struggling to find his timing and score runs in the tournament. However, the  30-year-old batter looked in great touch during his knock of 39 off 23 deliveries as he smacked a boundary and three beautiful sixes. While it seemed like he was going to get to a 50+ score, his innings suddenly ended against the run of play.

The beautiful-looking knock came to an end in the 16th over, which was bowled by Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka, who was hit for a massive six over mid-wicket on the second ball of the over. However, Samson threw his wicket away on the third delivery while attempting to smash him straight down the ground. Unfortunately the bat turned in his hands and he ended up skying the ball towards the extra cover region which was caught Charith Asalanka who pedalled back to take a great catch. This was another start thrown away by the talented batter.

Sanju Samson missed out on a well-deserved fifty
