IND A vs AUS A | Prasidh Krishna gets hit on head before being replaced by concussion substitute

Prasidh Krishna will miss the remainder of the second unofficial Test between India A and Australia A in Lucknow after getting hit on his head while batting on Wednesday. The pacer, who returned to the dressing room three overs later, was replaced by concussion substitute Yash Thakur.

Prasidh was hit on the helmet after he failed to pull a short delivery from pacer Henry Thornton in the 39th over of India A’s first innings. The Gujarat Titans pacer immediately underwent mandatory concussion checks before continuing his stay in the middle.
But he returned to the dressing room at the end of the 42nd over, with new batter Mohammed Siraj walking in to take guard. With Siraj and Sai Sudharsan departing shortly afterwards and India A nine down, it was Thakur who came into bat in place of Prasidh.
The India A innings folded at 194, with Sudharsan waging a lone battle with a fighting half-century. The home side ended up conceding a huge lead of 226 after the visitors had put up a good batting show to score 420 in the first innings. Prasidh picked up one wicket in this game after going wicketless in the first unofficial Test match.
This was Prasidh’s first series after featuring in the Indian team during the five-Test series against England in June-July. The Karnataka pacer was part of the side’s pace attack alongside Jasprit Bumrah, Siraj, and Akash Deep, picking up 14 wickets from three matches at an average of 37.07 and a strike rate of 45.00.
With the extent of the pacer’s injury unknown, the selection committee will adopt a wait-and-watch approach as they meet to pick the side for the home series against West Indies. The two-Test duel will start in Ahmedabad on October 2 before action shifts to Delhi for the second game on October 10.
