India spinner Rahul Chahar set to feature for Surrey in their season-ending fixture in County Championship

A lot of Indian cricketers have featured in the elite English domestic tournament, the County Championship Division One . Meanwhile, Indian spinner Rahul Chahar has joined the same bandwagon as he will be playing for Surrey in their season-ending game.

Star Indian leg spinner Rahul Chahar has joined Surrey for their last game of the ongoing County Championship Division One. In this game, Surrey will take on Hampshire at the Rose Bowl in Southampton from September 24th to 27th. The Surrey County registered Chahar earlier this month, according to the ECB regulations. However, Surrey did not pick Chahar in their home fixtures against Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire.
The 26-year-old leggie has regularly featured for the Rajasthan Royals in India’s premier domestic tournament, the Ranji Trophy, alongside an appearance in the Indian Premier League as an impact substitute for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has played 24 First Class games and picked 87 wickets in 40 innings, with the best bowling figures of 9/148 in a match and 5/59 in an innings, registering an impressive economy rate of 3.71. He has six four-wicket hauls and seven five-wicket hauls to his name in First Class Cricket. Apart from his domestic career, the Rajasthan-born has also played an ODI and six T20Is for India, picking three and seven wickets, respectively, in both formats, with the best figure of 3/54 in an ODI match and 3/15 in a T20I match.
“I'm excited to join Surrey for this week's match. I'm coming here to have an impact and help the team in their final match of the season,” said Chahar after getting on board with Surrey for their last game of the season.
Furthermore, high-performance advisor for Surrey, Alec Stewart, also spoke about Chahar being part of Surrey for their game against Hampshire.
“Adding Rahul to the squad gives us another spin option at the Utilita Bowl. We always knew that we would be missing players for the final period of the season and tried to plan accordingly, given the potential surfaces and the opposition we're playing,” said Stewart.
