AFG vs SL | Twitter labels Chameera "world's most inelegant ballerina" after absurd spinning boundary catch

Simply catching a cork and leather ball struck with ungodly might with giant sledgehammers sounds difficult enough, let alone factors such as the glaring lights or boundary rope restrictions. Yet, Dushmantha Chameera showed utter disregard to all such problems on Thursday with an absolute stunner.

Afghanistan's woes with the bat continued in their must-win Asia Cup encounter against Sri Lanka as three powerplay wickets left them fighting the odds after a blistering start. Ibrahim Zadran tried to stabilized proceedings thereafter with a steady 24 but the wickets of Darwish Rasooli and Azmatullah Omarazi within six balls once again left his team on the backfoot, and the top-order batter decided it was time to go for all or nothing. The onslaught began with a six off Dasun Shanaka and was followed with a shimmy down the tracks against Dunith Wellalage two deliveries later but this time around, the Lions pulled a rabbit out of the hat to setback the Afghans.
Wellalage had hung the ball just enough outside off to avoid the meat of Zadran's bat, bringing Dushmantha Chameera at long-on into play. However, the tall pacer had the Kookaburra coming at him straight out of the floodlights while the hard-and-low trajectory only made the challenge worse. Backtracking and struggling, it seemed inevitable that the white rock would scream over Chameera's head and into the boundary ropes. Yet, the 33-year-stuck up both his arms into thin air almost on a whim and somehow the ball stuck but the job was only half done still as Chameera tumbled towards the boundary ropes uncontrollably. But much like the absurd grab, the pacer stopped still jut as he was about to roll onto the boundary cushions to complete a catch for the ages.
Twitterati was as speechless as it gets.
