WATCH, KCL | Amal AG takes stunning boundary catch to dispatch Akash Pillai

The spectacular catches near the boundary are one of the pleasant sights for the fans to watch and enjoy. Aries Kollam Sailors’ Amal AG created a similar moment by executing a stunning catch at the boundary line to dismiss Alleppey Ripples’ Akash Pillai in a KCL 2025 game between ALPR and AKS.
AKS skipper Sachin Baby won the toss and asked the Alleppey Ripples to bat first. The opening pair of Akarsh AK and skipper Jalaj Saxena stitched a blistering opening partnership of 46 runs in just 4.5 overs. It ended when Saxena fell prey to Amal AG on the fifth ball of the fifth over, getting caught by Abhishek Nair. Following this, Akash Pillai joined Akash AK in the middle before the latter was caught trapped LBW by Sachin Baby in on the last ball of the eighth over, when ALPR were on 61 runs. Following these two dismissals, Akash Pillai stitched a 47-run partnership for the third wicket with Anuj Jotin. Both batters scored 33 runs each in 27 and 22 balls, respectively.
However, Pillai’s knock came to an unexpected end on the second ball of the 14th over, when he played a lofted shot off Sharafuddeen. The shot was going well towards the boundary for a six, but it was Amal AG who turned the tables in his side’s favour, taking a brilliant running catch. He avoided touching the boundary ropes very sharply..
Eventually, the Ripples managed to post 137/9 in the allotted 20 overs. Apart from his sensational catch, Amal AG also picked three wickets for just 22 runs in his three overs. Pavan Raj also bowled an amazing and tight spell, bagging two wickets for just 13 runs in three overs, including a maiden. Aries Kollam Sailors comfortably chased down the target in just 17 overs, scoring 139/6. Vishnu Vinod played a swashbuckling knock of 39, laced with one four and five sixes.
