WCL 2025 | Pakistan Champions qualify for finals after India Champions pull out of semifinal

India Champions pulled out of their World Championship of Legends 2025 semifinal clash against Pakistan Champions. With that, the Men in Green qualified for the finals of the tournament, where they will meet the winners of the second semi-final between Australia Champions and South Africa Champions
India Champions withdrew from their semifinal tie against Pakistan Champions in the World Championship of Legends 2025 season due to the strained political relations between both countries. That ended India’s campaign this year, with Pakistan progressing to the final to meet the winners of the other semifinal between South Africa Champions and Australia Champions. It was disappointing news for the fans all over the world, with the organisers of the event announcing a 50% refund for the ticket-holders of this contest.
India was scheduled to play their semifinal at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Thursday, with the final slated at the same venue on Saturday. The Indian veterans had earlier pulled out of the same fixture in the group stages of the competition, with both sides sharing a point each on July 20.
But this time, the Men in Green advanced to the summit clash after finishing on top of the table with their unbeaten run fetching them nine points from five games. India, however, edged out England to qualify for the last four with a better run rate as both sides finished with three losses and a solitary win after their group proceedings.
Sporting ties between India and Pakistan had worsened after cross-border tensions in Jammu and Kashmir in April led to a temporary stoppage of the Indian Premier League and the Pakistan Super League. Both the franchise leagues, however, were completed with a slight delay from their original schedules.
India and Pakistan are set to meet again in an Asia Cup T20 2025 Group A game in the United Arab Emirates on September 14. Meanwhile, the Indian Women’s team will also meet their neighbours in the ODI World Cup in Colombo on October 6.
