Though the game of cricket is considered a gentleman’s game, there are certain altercations on the field that stray away from the term. One such incident was witnessed between Nitish Rana and Digvesh Rathi in the high-scoring eliminator game of the Delhi Premier League.

‌The Delhi Premier League is down to its final two games, with the last game being an eliminator between West Delhi Lions and South Delhi Superstarz. It was the Lions who emerged victorious in the high-scoring encounter, and the man in the spotlight was West Delhi skipper Nitish Rana with an unbeaten knock of 134 off 55 deliveries. The 31-year-old left-handed batter’s knock included eight boundaries and 15 massive sixes as he proved his match-winning ability in the crucial game that has put his team one win away from the finals against the Central Delhi Kings. Apart from his elegant strokes, there was another viral moment in the game involving the Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals batter.

Rana was not the only IPL player who featured in the game, as upcoming mystery spinner Digvesh Rathi was also seen representing the South Delhi Superstarz in the crucial knockout game. There was already some drama between the two players, with Rathi pulling out of his action at the last minute and Rana giving a taste of his own medicine by backing away at the last minute when the latter was in his delivery stride. However, the altercation between the two turned ugly after Rana smacked the mystery spinner for a six with a well-executed switch hit in the third man region and celebrated the shot with Rathi’s checkbook celebration. Though this was an epic reply from him, the was not enough to end the heated battle between the two players, as a few words were exchanged as well with the West Delhi captain aggressively approaching the bowler. The situation got out of hand, which led to the umpires and the rest of the players getting involved, trying to separate the two individuals.
