Footballers are famous for their no-look passes and goals, and the willow-wielders have caught up in the recent past with the advent of T20 cricket. South African batter Dewald Brevis exhibited that yet again with a stunning six off Sean Abbott during the second T20I against Australia in Darwin.

‌Put into bat first in the second T20I against Australia, South Africa started off aggressively at the Marrara Stadium in Darwin in a bid to level the three-match series. Openers Ryan Rickelton and Aiden Markram came up with entertaining cameos to power South Africa to 50/2 at the end of the powerplay.

But once they departed, Dewald Brevis continued the Proteas’ momentum with a six each off spinners Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa. He moved to 21 off just 14 balls with the side placed at 73/3 after nine overs.

With pacer Sean Abbott returning for his second over, Brevis welcomed him with an audacious shot off the first ball, which sent the crowd crazy. Abbott bowled on a length around middle and leg with Brevis ready to pounce on it. He brought his willow down in a flash before sending the ball miles back.

The young batter was so confident with the contact he made that he did not even lift his head to look at the ball. The bowler was battered with the no-look effort as the commentators were quick to bring in comparisons with his idol AB de Villiers.

Twitter was in awe as Baby AB brevis went about setting the stage on fire.
