After opting to bat first, NDS’ opening pair of Sarthak Ranjan and Vaibhav Kandpal started with a 37-run opening partnership in just 4.5 overs. Ranjan smashed four fours and a six to score 28 runs off 19 balls. Number three batter Yajas Sharma joined Kandpal but failed to stay long, as he was dismissed in the eighth over, scoring just 10 runs off seven balls, with one four. Kandpal was now left with the job of stabilising the innings with Arnav Bugga. The Kandpal-Bugga duo added 47 runs for the third wicket before Kandpal (55 off 38 balls) lost his wicket in an unfortunate run-out dismissal, executed brilliantly by Vansh Bedi. Later in the innings, Bugga (22) and Bhatia (27) made some brilliant contributions to take North Delhi’s score to 172/7. Udhav Mohan of PD6 picked two big wickets of Sarthak Ranjan and Yash Bhatia.
Purani Delhi 6’s run chase started with a brilliant opening partnership of 49 runs in 5.2 overs between Samarth Seth and Aarush Malhotra. The initial attack was led by Seth with some brilliant boundaries off Harshit Rana and Siddhant Bansal. Malhotra also smashed two fours and a six before edging it to the keeper off Bansal in the sixth over, after scoring 20 runs off 14 balls. Seth stitched another crucial 39-run partnership for the second wicket with Bedi, and they were taking their side strongly towards the target. NDS skipper Harshit Rana broke this partnership by dismissing Seth as the latter's inside edge went straight into the stumps. Before losing his wicket to Rana, Seth had contributed 44 runs off 32 balls, hitting five fours and a six. Bedi and Pant added 35 runs for the third wicket, with the former scoring 36 (27) before getting dismissed off Yash Bhatia. Furthermore, Lalit Yadav’s late unbeaten burst of 34 runs off just 15 balls, with three fours and two sixes, helped PD6 to chase the target in 18.4 overs, scoring 173/5. With this win, Bedi’s men also registered their third straight win in the tournament’s current edition.
Player of the Match
Star PD6 all-rounder Lalit Yadav won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his unbeaten 34 runs and a wicket he scalped in the first innings, conceding 20 runs in his three overs.
