The Pro Kabaddi League 2025 has scrapped drawn results with the introduction of a five-raid shootout followed by a Golden Raid if scores remain level. In this decisive raid, a successful point wins the game, while a failed attempt gives victory to defenders. If still undecided, a toss decides the winner, ensuring every match has a result.
When the Pro Kabaddi League 2025 introduced the Golden Raid rule, it ensured that tied matches would no longer exist, bringing guaranteed results for every game. In previous seasons, teams such as Dabang Delhi had shared points on multiple occasions, which sometimes reduced the thrill for fans. Under the new system, if scores are level at the end of regulation time, teams go into a five-raid shootout.
Each side fields seven players, and only raid points count while dismissals and revivals are not considered. Five different raiders are nominated by each team to take alternate attempts, with the baulk line also acting as the bonus line. If the contest remains tied after the shootout, the Golden Raid decides the outcome. Similar to football’s golden goal or cricket’s super over, a fresh toss determines which side raids. If the raider scores, the attacking team wins instantly.
If the defense resists, the defending team is declared winner. If no result emerges, a toss ultimately decides the victor. The format was trialed in PKL 12, where Puneri Paltan beat Bengaluru Bulls 6-4 after a 32-32 tie, and U Mumba edged Gujarat Giants 7-6 following a 29-29 finish. With its official adoption in PKL 2025, fans can expect more drama and thrilling finishes.
