Backed by veterans Fazel Atrachali and Surjeet Singh, Malik aims to lead a fearless team despite missing former star Naveen Kumar.

For the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League season, Ashu Malik is all set to lead Dabang Delhi, marking a new era for the franchise. At 23, Malik has already proven himself as a top raider, scoring 262 raid points last season, including 18 Super 10s and 8 Super Raids, averaging 11.39 points per match. Delhi secured him with a Final Bid Match for 1.9 crore rupees, letting go of their previous star Naveen Kumar, now with Haryana Steelers. Malik expressed excitement about the captaincy, highlighting the presence of experienced players Fazel Atrachali and Surjeet Singh in the squad.

He believes their guidance will allow him and the team to play more freely and aggressively, unlike previous seasons when a young lineup required him to be cautious. Malik aims to replicate Delhi’s Season 8 success, when they won the title. While acknowledging the absence of Naveen, with whom he shared four seasons and strong on-field chemistry, Malik emphasized that friendship will not influence competitive spirit during matches.

He also feels motivated by the faith shown in him through his retention, vowing to maintain and improve his performance. Dabang Delhi will begin their campaign against Bengaluru Bulls on September 2, with Malik leading from the front, determined to play fearlessly and go all out.
