After losing their second home game against defending champions Bengaluru Bulls on Sunday, U Mumba coach Sanjeev Kumar has stated that the defenders didn’t perform well enough throughout their last game. Sanjeev also heaped praise on young raider Arjun Deshwal for his last night’s performance.

In a game which had a lot of twists and turns, it was the team from Bengaluru which won the game by 30-26. U Mumba had a good lead for the most parts of the game with their raiders Abhishek Singh, Arjun Deshwal, and Rohit Baliyan putting up a good show in the game. However, the strongest department for them i.e defence couldn’t step up and eventually they lost against the defending champions. At the post-match press conference, coach Sanjeev stressed on the same as well.

“Our raiders performed very well tonight straight from the start but our defence couldn’t perform well throughout the game,” Sanjeev was quoted as saying by the PKL website.

Deshwal was a part of the starting 7 yesterday and impressed one and all with his performance. He ended up with six raid points for the team which also had players like Baliyan and Abhishek. After not getting a lot of chance in the previous season, the raider was retained by the team and he came good for the team last evening.

Speaking about Deshwal, the coach explained, “He’s a very good raider but he hadn’t been given much chances so far because he was new. He performed very well in the Nationals, but he hadn’t played at this level before. However, we are confident that he will perform well in the future.”
