When the financial records of top Norwegians were reviewed, Erling Braut Haaland’s rising fortune stood out. At just 25, the Manchester City striker is not only among the world’s elite footballers but also a successful investor. According to Dagens Næringsliv, his investment company, Pillage 3 AS, posted a pre-tax profit of NOK 24.5 million (USD 2.4 million) in 2024, seven times higher than the previous year.
This surge was driven by the increased value of the firm’s securities holdings, which jumped from NOK 85 million in 2023 to NOK 223.7 million by the end of 2024. Pillage 3’s equity reached NOK 127.9 million, up from NOK 13.4 million the year before, although the firm also reported NOK 126 million in debt. Haaland owns Pillage 3 through a Luxembourg-based company, Pillage 2, which was valued at EUR 12.85 million in 2023.
Beyond finances, Haaland opened up in a rare interview with TIME Magazine, revealing that his mother was furious when he dropped out of school at 16 to pursue football. He described being genuinely scared of her reaction. Though now distant from the media spotlight and starting a family, Haaland's rise, from Norwegian teen to global football and financial powerhouse, is remarkable.
