Did Mohsin Naqvi Intentionally Walk Off with Indias Trophy?

The tensions around the Asia Cup 2025 finals seem to intensify as Mohsin Naqvi walks away with the trophy. Despite being the winners, the Indian team has not been given the trophy, which is currently with Naqvi in his hotel.

The battle for the Asia Cup final had been won by the Indian cricket team. But in this fight between India and Pakistan, someone else has taken away the trophy. And it is none other than the ACC Chief, Mohsin Naqvi.

Since the Indian team from Naqvi during the presentation, Naqvi did feel humiliated. Thus, he decided to take things to the next stage, as he walked away with the trophy. Currently, the Asia Cup winners' trophy, belonging to India, stays with Naqvi in his hotel in Dubai.

1. Board Steps In for Trophy Return

Even though the Indian players have returned, they returned without the trophy. During the trophy presentation, the team made it clear that they won't be taking it from the ACC Chief, Mohsin Naqvi. This was due to the fact that he is the Interior Minister of Pakistan, .

When Naqvi went down the stage with the trophy and medals, the presentation continued. Tilak Varma got the Man of the Match award, and Abhishek Sharma collected his Player of the Series award. Since these awards were not presented by Naqvi, both players went down to collect the same.

The winning trophy still remains with Naqvi in his hotel room in Dubai. This comes down as a trophy theft according to several Indian fans, and the BCCI has decided to step in this process. As per the reports, the  to get the trophy back to the country.

Along with that, the BCCI is also having talks with other teams which participated in the Asia Cup other than Pakistan. If the talks remain successful, the board will be able to bring the trophy back to the country. With several boards putting up pressure on the ACC officials, Naqvi will be left with no choice other than to give the trophy back.

2. Suryakumar Shows His Dissatisfaction

Along with the other Indian players, the captain, Suryakumar Yadav, has also arrived in the country. He opened up with his dissatisfaction about not being given the trophy. Indirectly, that what Naqvi did by taking back the trophy was immature and childish.

The interviewer asked Suryakumar Yadav if he denied taking the trophy. To this, he made it clear that he denied taking the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. He further said that the team waited for several hours for the trophy to be given to them. It was also seen that the Indian players waited with their phones to shoot with the trophy.

To clarify things, that Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, and Tilak Varma participated in the presentation. And the team did wait for the trophies and medals to be presented to them. However, he ended the answer on a funny note by saying that the team took the medals and trophies as if they had won the Asia Cup.

The Indian captain didn't hold back against Pakistan and the ACC Chief Mohsin Naqvi. He further continued by saying that he ran away with the trophy, without handing it over to the team. Along with that, he also said that some of them were recording the Indian team with their smartphones. And to most of the fans, it seems that he was pointing at the Pakistani team.

As the trophy drama unfolds, it is awaited whether Naqvi will hand over the trophy to the BCCI or not. But even after such behaviour from his side, the Indian team maintained its calm. They were able to enjoy the trophy celebrations even without having the trophy in their hands.
