‌Mithun Manhas took over the reins of the Board of Control for Cricket in India after being elected as its 37th president. He was appointed during the 94th annual general meeting of the board on Sunday.

The former Delhi captain was the only contestant in the fray and takes over the mantle from former Indian all-rounder Roger Binny, who stepped down in August. The middle-order batter was a prominent figure for Delhi in the domestic circuit during his playing days, amassing more than 15000 runs across all formats.

He joins Devajit Saikia, who will continue to be the secretary of the BCCI, with interim president Rajeev Shukla returning to his earlier role of vice-president. Former India and Karnataka spinner Raghuram Bhat rounds off the office bearers’ list as he was elected as the new treasurer.

The BCCI senior national men’s selection panel also underwent significant changes, with prominent names like Pragyan Ojha and RP Singh finding a place. They replace S Sharath and Subroto Banerjee, while Ajit Agarkar will continue to helm the committee till his term ends with the 2026 T20 World Cup. Former internationals Ajay Ratra and SS Das are the other members on the panel.

Left-arm spinner Ojha has picked up 144 wickets for India in 48 international matches. At the same time, RP Singh has been part of the Indian side in 82 matches, including the victorious 2007 T20 World Cup campaign, with 124 wickets to his name.

In the Women’s selection panel, former all-rounder Amita Sharma will replace Neetu David as the chairperson. Her panel will consist of Sulakshana Naik, Jaya Sharma, Sravanthi Naidu, and the already existing Shyama Dey.
