WATCH, County Championship | Lancashire's Matty Hurst ends up landing on head after comical collision with slip fielder

Fielders fumbling while attempting catches is one of the most common visuals on the cricket field, be it in international cricket or domestic cricket. Meanwhile, the Lancashire wicketkeeper Matty Hurst was involved in a similar kind of incident during the County game against Glamorgan.

Glamorgan and Lancashire are taking on each other in the 56th game of the ongoing County Championship Division 2, at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. The hosts have scored 238/9 in 83.2 overs in their second innings so far in response to Lancashire’s 374 in the first innings. Glamorgan have taken a lead of 119 runs, while setting a target for Lancashire to chase in the fourth innings. Wicketkeeper-batter Chris Cooke and Ned Leonard are there in the middle for their side.  

Meanwhile, an incident on the third day of the game caught the attention of the fans during the Glamorgan innings. it happened when Lancashire wicketkeeper Matty Hurst fell and landed awkwardly after a comical fumble with the slip fielder to attempt a catch. During an attempt to execute a successful catch, Hurst collided with the fielder in the first slip and ended up landing on his head. The video of this moment also went viral on social media, garnering a lot of hilarious reactions from the cricket fans.

Speaking of the action of the game so far, the visiting skipper, Josh Bohannon, won the toss and asked Glamorgan to bat first. Glamorgan were bundled out at the score of 265 runs in the first innings, with Timm van der Gugten scoring a half-century (53), followed by Mason Carne’s 42 runs off 93 balls. Besides these two, Kiran Carlson and Chris Cooke also played the crucial knocks of 34 and 37 runs, respectively. In response to Glamorgan’s 265, Lancashire posted 374 on the board in the first innings, taking a lead of 109 runs courtesy of Luke Wells’ 78-run knock, followed by Keaton Jennings’ 49 runs off 87 balls. Later, Michael Jones also scored a half-century (62), following 45 and 47 runs scored by George Bell and Matty Hurst.
