Some rare moments in the game of cricket result which lead to some unusual results and circumstances. One of these unusual moments was seen in the match between Sri Lanka and India, where an error in field placement cost the Lankans six runs, and a drop catch by Axar Patel did not cause problems.

‌The Indian bowlers struggled to contain the Lankan bowlers in the second innings despite posting a massive score of 202 on the board. Though India started the second innings with a wicket in the first over, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera kept the chase alive with some big hits and impressive strokeplay. There was a moment in the game that turned out to be a fortunate turn of events for the Indian team in this last game of the Super Fours.
The moment of fortune came in the tenth over, which was bowled by Indian mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy. Varun bowled the ball outside off stump, and Nissanka reached out for the ball and smashed it straight to Axar Patel on the boundary line, who ended up palming the ball over the boundary rope for a six. However, the drop catch did not cause any damage since the umpire signalled it a dead ball just before the bowler bowled the delivery. The reason for this was that Abhishek Sharma had not gone off the field completely while the delivery was being bowled. In the end, the runs were not counted, and it was a sigh of relief for the Men in Blue.
