Leg spin is one of the toughest arts to master, and Usama Mir put that to good use during the Caribbean Premier League 2025 match between Antigua and Barbuda Falcons and Guyana Amazon Warriors. He bowled magical deliveries to go past the defences of three batters in the Falcons’ four-wicket win.
Shai Hope and Hassan Khan tried to stabilise the Warriors’ innings after pacer Jayden Seales ran through the top order to leave them reeling at 26/3. Captain Imad Wasim introduced Mir in search of a much-needed breakthrough.
Mir did just that as he tricked Hope (26) with a quicker delivery that pitched on middle and leg, only to go past his defence and uproot the off-stump. Mir was not done yet as he returned to bamboozle the Warriors’ batters.
Big-hitter Romario Shepherd’s lack of footwork triggered his dismissal as Mir went slightly shorter on the middle stump this time. The all-rounder tried to play the spinning delivery away from his body and heard the sound of timber.
The last dismissal was the best of all as Dwaine Pretorius tried to negotiate a ball that pitched on a length outside the leg stump and went on to knock his off-stump down. The batter was shocked as he stared at the pitch before making his way back.
Mir, especially with the third dismissal, reminded the cricketing world of prime Shane Warne, who spun a web around the batters with his wizardry.
Spin it like Usama Mir!
Magical Mir cannot be stopped tonight! 🪄
