IPL | Twitter hails Hardik Pandya’s mind games to trigger former teammate and in-form Sai Sudharsan’s dismissal

Players often use mind games to get under the skin of their opponents and derail their focus and put them out of their comfort zone. Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya did just that and was over the moon as he triggered former teammate and GT opener Sai Sudharsan’s dismissal in Mumbai on Tuesday.

‌With a modest target of 156 to chase, Mumbai Indians came out all guns to make life difficult for the visitors with the new-ball duo of Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult using the conditions to the fullest. With the ball swinging and GT’s in-form opener playing and missing a few in the first over, skipper Hardik Pandya turned the heat on the southpaw.

He set an attacking field for Trent Boult with a slip and gully in place and stationed himself at silly mid-on, straight in the batter’s eye-line, throwing some chirps to derail the left-handed batter’s focus. Under pressure, Sudharsan played and missed the first delivery with Pandya continuously trading barbs with the batter.

Off the very next ball, Sudharsan tried poking at another outswinger with a faint edge taking the ball straight to Ryan Rickelton. Pandya was thrilled and didn’t hide his happiness as he rushed towards the batter crossing the timber after his plan worked out to perfection.

Twitter applauded Hardik Pandya’s mind games as the helpless Sudharsan stared back at Pandya but had to walk back in disappointment.
