IPL | Twitter and Shubman Gill in disbelief as Gujarat Titans go on a catch-dropping spree

Dropped catches are considered an exception in professional cricket but Gujarat Titans fielders shocked everyone as they went on a dropping spree against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday. Sai Sudharsan, Sai Kishore and Mohammed Siraj were guilty, letting MI batters off the hook easily at Wankhede Stadium.

‌Gujarat Titans were expected to bring their A-game in the battle that would decide the table topper in IPL 2025. Bowling first, they got a great start dismissing MI opener Ryan Rickelton off the second ball of the innings. But what followed was pretty mediocre display from the visitors on the field.

Two balls later, new batter Will Jacks was dropped by Sai Sudharsan, the same fielder who took the catch to record GT’s first wicket, and he was yet to score then. That was followed by another straight forward chance by Sai Kishore, who dropped Suryakumar’s flick at short mid-wicket. Prasidh Krishna, after being hit for consecutive boundaries off his first two balls by Surya, tried bowling into the pads with a fuller one off the fifth ball but saw luck turning its back against him.

In the very next over, Jacks got another reprieve as Siraj dropped a sitter at mid-wicket with Arshad Khan unable to hide his disappointment. Shubman Gill covered his face in disbelief as another chance went begging with the MI pair making excellent use of the chances to end the powerplay at a comfortable 56/2.

Twitteratti also couldn’t believe their eyes as GT had an excellent outing on the field in their last match against SRH in Hyderabad.
