Twitter laughs as Stubbs channels his Inner Milkha Singh to gift another wicket to SRH

Run-outs are always hurting for the batting side and all the more when they are trying to overcome a crisis situation. Vipraj Nigam felt helpless as he had to walk back to the dugout after getting entangled in a horrible mix-up with Tristan Stubbs during the SRH vs DC game in Hyderabad on Monday.

‌Delhi Capitals, in a bid to get two crucial points and move their way up the IPL 2025 points table, got off to the worst possible start crawling to 26/4 at the end of the powerplay, the lowest score after this phase in this year’s IPL. Soon they were 29/5 with the experienced KL Rahul also back in the pavilion.

But Tristan Stubbs and Vipraj Nigam started rebuilding the Delhi innings with a 30-ball 33 run association for the sixth wicket when disaster struck. Zeeshan Ansari, who came on to bowl his second over, bowled a short of a length delivery on the stumps to start proceedings in the 13th over. The Protean batter played it with soft hands towards mid-wicket and sprinted away to complete the first run.

His partner Vipraj also responded with a speedy first run, but realising that Aniket Verma was quick to the ball lent out a loud shout denying a second run. Stubbs, however, continued in the same fashion and ran his lungs out to reach the keeper’s end. Just then, he realised that Vipraj was unmoved at the same end but the young Indian all-rounder had to sacrifice his wicket for Stubbs.

Once Ansari broke the stumps at the bowler’s end, a helpless Vipraj started the long walk back to the dugout. Though the fourth umpire stopped him to re-check whether he was the one dismissed, he walked off with utter disappointment, a few moments later. Twitteratti was not at all amused with what ensued and were quick to criticise Stubbs’ brainfade moment.

What was that?

That was horrible mix-up!

That was not needed there!

That was just so confusing to hear!

That was not at all needed there!

LOL!

She is so animated!

May be!
