It’s important to be unique to create more opportunities for success or bemuse the opposition in a team sport.  Krunal Pandya, featuring for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru did exactly that as his shrewd tactics not only scared Venkatesh Iyer but also outsmarted him in quick time.

Eyeing to make a mark in the mega-event from the first day itself, Rajat Patidar decided to field first at Eden Gardens. Bowling on a surface that was covered for the majority of the pre-match day, Josh Hazlewood drew early blood for the visitors. However, Ajinkya Rahane and Sunil Narine played through the powerplay and consolidated a 103-run second-wicket stand before the duo’s wicket around the halfway mark made way for Venkatesh Iyer’s tactical dismissal.

After initiating the 13th over with a sharp beamer to surprise the new batter, Venkatesh, who was batting without a helmet summoned for protection. The immediate next delivery saw the all-rounder dish a length ball outside the stumps that the southpaw tried to whip outside the stumps. However, the KKR vice-captain got an inside edge back to the stumps, leading to yet another dismissal. Subsequently, Krunal was seen running high on adrenaline as he was seen jubilating the wicket, sparking a Twitterverse frenzy.
