Washington Freedom won their fifth consecutive match in Major League Cricket 2025 with a five-wicket win over Los Angeles Knight Riders in Dallas. Andre Fletcher’s blistering century for LAKR went in vain as WSF went to second in the points table with a last-ball finish in a high-scoring thriller.

‌Washington Freedom continued their winning streak in the Major League Cricket 2025 season with a five-wicket win against Los Angeles Knight Riders at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Friday. Mitchell Owen and skipper Glenn Maxwell came up with entertaining cameos for WSF to register their fifth-straight win in a high-scoring thriller as Andre Fletcher’s century went in vain.

After being put into bat first, LAKR got off to an excellent start with openers Andre Fletcher and Unmukt Chand taking the side to 67/0 in the powerplay. Fletcher was particularly severe on left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar hitting two fours in the opening over before smashing two sixes and a four in his second. The West Indies batter hit a massive six off Glenn Maxwell in the seventh over to bring up his fifty off just 28 balls. The pair had already added 130 for the opening wicket when Chand was dismissed for a 30-ball 41. Fletcher reached the three-figure mark in the 18th over in only his third match in MLC before retiring out. Andre Russell’s 13-ball 30, which included three sixes took LAKR past the 200-run mark as they ended at 213/4.

In reply, Mitchell Owen started in his usual aggressive fashion smashing two sixes and a four in consecutive overs from Ali Khan and Jason Holder. WSF went past the 50-run mark in the fourth over before Owen was dismissed for a 16-ball 43. Skipper Glenn Maxwell then took over in the middle phase with his assault on Russell in the 13th over changing the course of the game. He scored two sixes and a  four off the West Indies pacer before being cleaned up by Tanveer Sangha in the next over for 42 off 23 balls. With 60 runs required from the final six overs, Glenn Phillips and Obus Pienaar added an unbeaten 60 for the sixth wicket to take the side home. Phillips scored 33 while Pienaar made 23 as WSF crossed the line in a last-ball thriller, courtesy of a dropped catch from LAKR skipper Holder.
