Sledging might be a dying art in Test cricket courtesy of the growing proliferation of technology and the increasing camaraderie across nations due to T20 leagues. However, Rishabh Pant's humour continues to enthrall audiences, as the wicket-keeper batter provided another stump mic classic in Leeds.

Rishabh Pant showed no signs of stopping when he took to the field for Day 2 at Headingley as he added to his overnight score of 65 with ridiculous ease. The wicket-keeper batter took a liking for Shoaib Bashir, dispatching the spinner to all parts of the park, while bringing out the unpredictable dances down the track and awkward off-balance shots to punish the quicker bowlers. Brydon Carse was no exception to the rule, even though he seemed to earn some respect from his counterpart during their long drawn battle.
Carse was chosen as the executor of the short ball ploy by Ben Stokes to kick off the second morning and immediately went about his business against Pant. However, as he ran in to start the 94th over of the innings, the Indian vice-skipper was prepared for a riposte as he charged out of his crease and whipped a ferocious pull towards backwards square leg for four. However, Carse refused to relent, and achieved his best effort on the fourth delivery when a sharp bumper speared over a ducking Pant into Jamie Smith’s gloves. Gill, unfettered at the other end, urged Pant on as he said “Maar na [hit it],” provoking a smirk from Pant.
“Tagda ball daal diya yaar… respect karna pad gya bowler ko [Bowled a great ball… forced to respect the bowler],” Pant shot back, half-mockingly. Twitterati was amused as always.
