SA vs NZ | Twitter fans appreciate Kiwi skipper's brilliant piece of fielding

The art of fielding is very underrated in the game of cricket, and takes a great effort by a player to show us how affecting a run-out out of nowhere and saving affects the scenario in the game. One such effort was displayed by Mitchell Santner, which resulted in Rassie van der Dussen being run out.

The South African batters' struggles continued in the T20I tri-series game against New Zealand as the Proteas continued to keep losing wickets at regular intervals. Out of the five wickets that fell, only Lhuan-dre Pretorius had crossed the 20 runs in the innings. While the Kiwi bowlers have been brilliant, it is their sharpness in the field that has been the highlight as they kept saving runs and creating chances whenever an opportunity arose. Apart from athleticism and acrobatics, another important ability in the art of fielding is awareness and presence of mind, which was displayed by Mitchell Santner in the match.
The Kiwi skipper was bowling in the ninth over of the game and had already made South Africa skipper Rassie Van der Dussen restless at the crease with three dot balls. Van der Dussen, following the ball, attempted to nudge the ball on the leg side for a quick single, which resulted in disaster. It looked like the South African captain might just about make it at one point since the throw from Tim Seifert was very wide. However, Santner made sure he got to the ball and deflected it onto the stumps, and the replays showed that Rassie was inches out of the crease.
This was a piece of fielding that shows how a good piece of fielding gives you the desired result.
