ENG vs IND | Twitter unimpressed as England players bomb Jadeja with verbal volleys

Fielding sides trying to enter the batter’s mind is no common thing, but England players decided to take on Ravindra Jadeja with personal jibes during the Lord’s Test. The players in the slip cordon were in his ears as he came to bat, questioning his merit to be in this Indian unit.

‌With India already staring down the barrel at the end of the fourth day’s play against England at Lord’s, things went further south when pacer Jofra Archer cleaned up Rishabh Pant in his second over of the day. The visitors still needed 122 runs with only five wickets left as Ravindra Jadeja walked into the middle in a pressure cooker situation.

With the all-rounder trying to steady the ship, Ben Stokes came up with a bumper in the third ball of the 22nd over, with Jadeja not offering any shot. As the ball passed to the wicketkeeper and Stokes was making his way back to the runup, the slip cordon swarmed around Jadeja, trying to take him down personally.

Harry Brook, Ben Duckett, and Joe Root took turns to sledge the southpaw and divert his focus. The players were caught in the stump mic mentioning, “He shouldn’t even be in this Indian side, how will he play this ball.” They again continued to be in his ears, “He is surely not going to play that.”

Jadeja has been one of the most dependable all-rounders in this Indian unit, and he has proved that in this series too, with three fifties in five innings so far. Twitter was not impressed with England players' comments as Jadeja continued to ignore the verbal volleys, focusing on the job at hand.
