ENG vs IND | Twitter red-faced as Carse turns Casemiro to stop Jadeja during his run at Lord’s

Cricket is considered the gentleman’s game but players tend to forget it while getting caught in the heat of the game. Brydon Carse had a similar instance when he tried to hold Ravindra Jadeja, who was attempting a run, in the Lord’s Test with the batter recovering in time to complete a double.

‌India had a bad start to the final day of the Lord’s Test against England as they slipped from 58/4 to 82/7 in the first session. India lost vice-captain Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Washington Sundar in quick succession to hand the advantage to the home side.

But Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy were not ready to give up without a fight as the duo joined hands with India needing a further 111 runs to complete a historic win. Both bided their time as they turned up against a fired-up England attack in a battle of attrition.

The pair slowly found their feet, adding 19 runs in 61 balls for the eighth wicket to keep the faint hopes alive. The England bowlers were getting frustrated at not getting another breakthrough, evident from Brydon Carse’s actions in the last ball of the 35th over.

The pacer sent down a short of a length delivery outside off stump as Jadeja used the width and pace of the delivery to guide it past backward point. With the fielder placed wide, Jadeja took off quickly, looking to steal two runs.

The all-rounder ran into Carse, colliding with him, and the bowler tried to hold him on with both hands. But Jadeja was quick enough to evade him and continue his motion, completing two runs with ease.

Twitter burst out in anger as Carse woke up his inner footballer to try and stop the fast-approaching Jadeja.

More than technique, Test cricket examines a player's patience and mental resolution -- especially in front of a packed crowd at the Home of Cricket on a hostile Day 5 deck against a charged up pace attack. Nitish Kumar Reddy certainly passed the first few stages of scrutiny with aplomb on Monday.
