Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a 52-ball 100, the fastest in international youth ODIs, to power India to a 55-run win in the fourth ODI. Vihaan Malhotra also shone with a century while leg-spinner Naman Pushpak picked up three wickets as India took an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.

‌Vaibhav Suryavanshi grabbed the headlines once again as he scored the fastest century in international youth ODIs during the fourth match between India U19 and England U19. The left-hander’s 52-ball 100 en route to his 143 powered India to a 55-run win at the County Ground in Worcester. Vihaan Malhotra also scored a century while leg spinner Naman Pushpak picked up three wickets as India took an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.

Put into bat first, India U19 got to a commendable 363/9 in their allotted 50 overs courtesy of the Rajasthan Royals batter’s stupendous show with the bat. The 14-year-old Suryavanshi smashed 10 sixes and 13 fours during his knock of 143 off just 78 balls. He added 219 runs in 24 overs for the second wicket with Vihaan Malhotra to take the game away from England. Vihaan also scored a century hitting 15 fours and three sixes during his 121-ball 129. Medium pacer Jack Home was the most successful bowler for England Colts picking up 4/63 in eight overs while Sebastian Morgan had three wickets to his name.

In reply, England could manage only 308 before being bowled out in the 46th over with 27 balls to spare. Middle-order batter Rocky Flintoff led the home team’s chase with a 91-ball 107, which included seven fours and four sixes. Openers BJ Dawkins (67) and Joseph Moores (52) also scored half-centuries to add 104 runs for the first wicket but a middle-order slump saw the hosts slide from 192/3 to 226/7. For India, leggie Naman Pushpak was the pick among the bowlers with a spell of 3/63 in 8.3 overs while medium pacer RS Ambrish chipped in with two wickets.

The fifth and final ODI of the series is scheduled to take place at the same venue on Monday before the teams face off again in a two-Test series from July 12.
