ZIM vs IND | Twitter in splits as bail teases Raza with hope before gently falling off after direct-hit

‌Most batters in the world would have no second thoughts in declaring run-outs as the worst form of dismissal but Sikandar Raza's must have hurt him extra on Sunday due to its absurd nature. The Zimbabwean seemed to have survived a run-out threat in Harare, unaware it was to be a slow painful death.

India seemed on-course to register a fourth straight win in the series after putting Zimbabwe severely under the pump during their chase of 168. The hosts' hopes largely relied on skipper Sikandar Raza to pull off a surprise victory with some heroics but the veteran's knock came to an unfortunate end in a slightly comical fashion.

On the fourth ball of the 14th over, Raza swept a Ravi Bishnoi length delivery to fine leg towards Shivam Dube. Johnathan Campbell immediately sprinted towards the striker's end for a single but his captain hesitated before committing to the run, offering the Men in Blue a chance to affect a run out. The southpaw cleanly picked up the Kookaburra and slung a throw towards the danger end and the Kookaburra bounced off the deck before going past the stumps with no visible damage. Raza must have heaved a sigh of relief but in hilarious fashion, a bail slowly slid off the stumps as replays showed the white rock had grazed the polls, sending the Indian team into jubilation.

Twitterati expressed missed sentiments about the dismissal.
